Housewarming party registering?

So me and my husband have been married a year now and just bought our first home! I opted to not have a bridal shower so we could then have a housewarming part instead BUT I am reading everywhere it is rude to register for a house warming party? I thought we would register for this instead. The party will be immediate family and friends aprox 40-50 people. So my questions is it rude in our situation? I would never register for outrageous things just basic small things. TIA
