Am I going to fail horribly at making out for the first time?

don't worry about it. it will come to you. but you can sort of think of it as prolonged kissing. you know the motions you go through when you kiss a girl? just keep doing that. and depending on how things start to progress, you can move to different things. you can SLOWLY move your tongue into her mouth. but be careful, you want to make sure she wants you to so you can test the waters by licking her bottom lip. if she opens her mouth a bit more, she wants to. so simply slide your tongue into her mouth. but don't go searching for yesterday's breakfast in her mouth. it's gross when you do that. it's kinda fun if you take turns doing that so your tongue in her mouth, hers in yours. but also don't just leave your hands limply at your side, that's a huge no no. there's a lot of things you could. you could wrap your arms around her waist and pull her close to you. you could rub her back, stroke her face and/or hair, or if you're feeling really adventurous, you could grab her butt. haha. (: but make sure she wants you to. if she pulls back a little, she's not comfortable with it. but all in all, the best way to learn is to just do it. you learn and develop your own techniques as you do it. so just go for it and see what works for the both of you. hope this helps.
